Meet The Farmers

The Ironwood Farmers

A tough and loving farm crew led by two experienced female farmers

Lauren Jones

Owner and Farmer

I made a move into farming from the non-profit sector in 2010 due to my love of being outside.

I love interacting with our customers, the OCD of organizing vegetable sizes, and watching the family of hawks at Ironwood Farm swoop overhead during the harvest.

I look to farming as a way to bring my family and work-life closer together. Importantly, it also keeps me in touch with my basic human need for nutritious, happy and healthy food.

Aliyah Brandt

Owner and Farmer

I farm because it matches up with my values and passions in life, which are primarily eating well and keeping my body healthy and in motion.

Farming gives me the opportunity to work outside and produce nutritious food that sustains both me and my community.

I started Ironwood Farm alongside Jenny and Lauren because I value the support of our all-female team, and gain encouragement and inspiration as we problem solve together.

Jonney

Farm Husband

Back in pre-responsibility days, Lauren (my now wife), told me in no uncertain terms that she wanted a farm and a baby, both in the Hudson Valley. That sounded pretty alright to me, so I jumped in with her. What was born was something far more incredible than I could have ever imagined. Ironwood has grown so much over the years. We've had the privilege of working alongside some incredible people. A whole community has sprung up around us, supporting and nurturing this thing we've created. And our two young daughters get to grow up outside, in the mud, eating greens. It's hard work, but it's worth it.

Elsie

Farm Kid

My name is Elsie and my mom is a farmer. When I think about the farm I think about playing with my friends, playing with Molly, and picking carrots. It's a great farm because it's a place to play and pick vegetables.

I really like the team at Ironwood because they are great farmers, they are hard workers and they pick lots and lots of vegetables.

I hope the farm lives forever.

Hazel

Farm Kid

Ironwood Farm is a good place to bring snacks to. I love eating snacks at the farm. I like to play soup at the farm. I put vegetables in a bucket. I mix it with spoon. My hands get very dirty. Then I wash them off. It is fun.

My mommy is a farmer. She plants carrots. She also sckrews things. Sometimes she drives the tractor. She is nice. And I love playing.

I play with Poppy and my sister Elsie at the farm. And our friends.
