CSA - Community Supported Agriculture
Weekly access to seasonal and organic veggies at their peak freshness and flavor
What is a CSA?
Good question! CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.
When you join a CSA, you are buying a 'share' in a farm's season. This means you are not just buying what the farm produces, but you are also engaging in the risks and rewards of farming. Your up front payment helps farmers fund the expensive start-of-year costs involved in growing food. Your membership also helps a farm plan for the year's crops. Your participation lets the farmer know you value their work.
As a member of the CSA you are entitled to your 'share' of the bounty. When a crop is really rocking, CSA members get to experience that abundance. A CSA "share" is a weekly supply of certified organic vegetables, harvested fresh the day before pick up. It is rare to experience produce that's this alive, as most grocery food sits on shelves or in back rooms for weeks. Each week your farmer selects the prime crops, picks and cleans them, and sets them out for collection at a specific time and place.
